1. Your booking and payments

The price, cabin count, departure date and payment deadlines are shown before payment and in your booking confirmation. All amounts are in United States dollars (USD). A cabin accommodates one or two guests.

The exact due date and time will appear in your confirmation and private booking page. Payment cutoffs use UTC. Any retention of a deposit or other payment is subject to the cancellation provisions below and applicable law.

2. Late or missing balance payments

We will send a balance reminder and, if payment remains outstanding, an overdue notice to the booking email address. Please pay within 48 hours of that overdue notice. We allow a further two days for payment processing and will not cancel for non-payment until at least four days after the overdue notice. Contact us immediately if you experience a payment problem.

If payment is still outstanding after this four-day period, we may cancel the booking by written notice and reopen the cabin for sale. Cancellation charges will be assessed under sections 3 and 4, but for cancellation solely because of an unpaid balance we will not charge more than the amount already paid. We will not automatically charge your card for an unpaid balance or cancellation fee without the necessary authorisation.

3. If you cancel, miss departure or leave early

Send cancellation requests to info@svsunday.com from the booking email address, quoting your booking reference. Cancellation takes effect when we receive the email, not when we later reply. We will acknowledge it and explain the financial outcome.

When we receive your cancellationMaximum cancellation charge
More than 60 days before departure50% of the cancelled cabin’s total price.
60 days or less before departure, including a no-showUp to 100% of the cancelled cabin’s total price.

These are maximum charges, not automatic forfeitures. We will reduce them to reflect the reasonable net loss and costs attributable to the cancellation, taking account of costs saved, recoveries and replacement bookings. We will provide a breakdown on request. Amounts paid above the applicable charge will be refunded. We will not recover the same loss twice.

Changing your mind, illness, flight disruption or personal circumstances do not automatically remove cancellation charges; any rights provided by law remain. If you voluntarily leave a trip early, the same net-loss approach applies to the unused part. If we cancel or cannot provide the trip, sections 6–8 apply instead.

4. Replacement guests and reducing losses

We will make reasonable efforts to resell a cancelled cabin where practicable. If it is resold, we will account for the replacement revenue and saved costs when settling the cancellation charge. If it sells for the same price, the charge will generally be limited to reasonable unrecovered costs caused by the cancellation. If it sells for less, a reasonable shortfall may also be included, within the maximum in section 3.

We will not treat voluntarily giving the cabin away as proof that the cancelled booking’s full price was an unavoidable loss. We will settle any refund promptly after the replacement revenue and relevant costs are known.

5. Date changes and guest substitutions

Bookings are for specific dates. You may request a change, but it is not confirmed until we accept it in writing. Changes depend on availability and may involve a price difference and reasonable, disclosed costs. If we cannot agree a change and you cannot attend, the cancellation policy applies. A change will not reset cancellation deadlines unless expressly agreed.

You may propose replacement guests. Acceptance is subject to the same eligibility, safety, capacity and waiver requirements as other guests and any applicable legal transfer rights. We will not unreasonably refuse a suitable substitute. Any administration or third-party costs must be reasonable and disclosed before the substitution is agreed.

6. Named storms and hurricanes

Safety comes first. If a storm named by the National Hurricane Center makes your planned trip unsafe, the captain may change the itinerary or cancel the trip. A named storm elsewhere does not automatically mean your trip is cancelled.

If we cancel the entire trip before departure, we will refund all balance payments plus 50% of your deposit. We may retain up to 50% of the deposit to cover reasonable, unavoidable costs that we cannot recover. If those costs are lower, or the law requires a larger refund, we will refund more.

For a US$5,500 cabin, the deposit is US$2,750. We would retain no more than US$1,375. Your refund would be at least US$1,375 if you paid only the deposit, or US$4,125 if you paid in full.

If a storm ends your trip after departure, we will assess a refund for the portion not provided, less reasonable unavoidable costs where legally permitted, and explain the calculation. The pre-departure retention does not automatically apply.

We strongly recommend suitable travel insurance. Coverage depends on your policy and insurer; reimbursement is not guaranteed. Your statutory rights remain unchanged.

7. If Sailing Sunday cancels for another reason within our control

If we cancel the entire trip before departure for a reason within the captain’s or owner’s control, we will refund all payments received for that trip, including both deposit and balance. This includes cancellation because we decide there are not enough bookings to operate the trip.

We may offer alternative dates, but you do not have to accept a credit or rescheduling instead of a refund you are entitled to. If we stop a trip after departure for a reason within our control, we will refund the services not provided and give any additional remedy required by law. These provisions do not limit any other rights or compensation available under applicable law.

8. Other events, safety decisions and itinerary changes

For other events outside our reasonable control—such as a port closure or government restriction—we will explain the effect on your trip and available options. Any cancellation, interruption, refund or credit will be handled in accordance with applicable law, services actually provided and reasonable unavoidable costs where legally permitted. The named-storm formula does not automatically apply to other events.

Normal weather changes may require adjustments to anchorages, activities or route. A reasonable adjustment that still delivers the agreed sailing experience does not automatically entitle a guest to cancel without charge. If a change is substantial or we cannot provide the agreed service, your applicable rights remain.

9. Travel insurance

We strongly recommend buying suitable travel insurance when booking. Check that it covers the sailing activities you plan to undertake, cancellation and interruption, medical treatment, emergency evacuation, your destination and relevant weather risks. Check exclusions, purchase deadlines and policy limits with your insurer. Not every cancellation or storm is covered.

Travel insurance is recommended, not a promise of reimbursement or a requirement under this draft. Our payment and cancellation terms apply independently of whether you buy insurance or whether an insurer accepts a claim. We can provide booking and cancellation documents to support a claim. Nothing here excludes our legal responsibilities.

10. Refunds and disputes

Once the refund amount has been determined, we will initiate payment to the original payment method within five business days. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to display it. We will explain any amount retained and any delay while a replacement booking or unavoidable cost is being finalised.

Contact info@svsunday.com with your booking reference if you disagree with a calculation. We will review it and respond in writing. No provision of this policy excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Alcohol and guest conduct

Sunset drinks in moderation are welcome once we are safely anchored for the night and the captain permits it. Drunken behaviour that disrupts other guests or puts anyone at risk is not tolerated. The captain, acting reasonably, may end your trip and arrange your safe disembarkation at a suitable port with access to onward travel. You are responsible for reasonable onward travel and accommodation costs resulting from your behaviour, where permitted by law. Any refund is assessed under sections 3 and 4; your statutory rights remain unchanged.
